September 15 Washington Wine Commission’s Taste Washington! In Denver.  The Washington Wine Commission is heading to Colorado as Taste Washington! holds its first showcase in Denver. Some of the wineries participating include Waters Winery and Substance, who will be pouring at the new event held at the Mountain Ranch Club. The event will showcase the finest wines from Washington to the Colorado community. On hand will also be Denver-area retailers, restaurateurs, and wine distributers. September 5Fine-Dining Etiquette Seminar and Wine Dinner with Maitre d'Hotel Dieter Schafer at Portfolio Restaurant.   Portfolio, the teaching dining room of The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Seattle, invites the public to an Etiquette Seminar. Enjoy the breathtaking view of Elliott Bay from the fifth-floor restaurant as you learn about fine dining etiquette.  Join Certified Educator and Maitre d'Hotel Dieter Schafer as he covers the dos and don'ts of fine dining over a four-course dinner prepared by upper-level culinary students under the guidance of Chef Instructor David Wynne.
Dieter will address questions of etiquette, ordering in a restaurant, pairing food and wine, how to complain and compliment, guest-server relationship, tips on tipping, and guidelines for hosting a dinner. Olympic Peninsula Passport Wine Tour.  The Olympic Peninsula is alive with fall color, creating a gorgeous backdrop for sampling some of our state's most distinctive award-winning wines. And we invite you to celebrate the harvest and sample the season's new releases during the annual Passport Wine Tour.

Our winemakers will put their creative grape juices to the test at this year's annual Passport Wine Tour, with each winery displaying its own artistic interpretation of the "Wine Scarecrow" for visitors to enjoy. Limited only by their imaginations, the wineries will strive to design the most unique vineyard watchman ever to scare (or commune with) a pesky bird! Visitors can vote for their favorite scarecrow while tasting the best of the vintages.

Tickets for this self guided tour are available in advance or at the door for just $20.00 and entitle you to a special commemorative wine glass, a label collection Passport, and complimentary wine tastings at each winery during the weekend.

Ticket and glass packages sold at the participating wineries during the event are available on a first come basis. Tickets are not required and you may visit any winery and participate by paying a small fee at each establishment. Get your ticket stamped at all 7 wineries and be eligible to enter our gift basket drawing. While children are allowed in the tasting rooms, you must be 21 or over to purchase tickets and/or participate in wine tasting.

 On Sunday wine and food lovers are invited to “A Place at the Table,” as the wineries host a series of lunches, which bring together winemakers, growers, farmers and ranchers. This is a chance for the public to spend time at local wineries enjoying a meal made of locally-grown food paired with locally-produced wines, and learn the story of local agriculture firsthand. Also on Sunday, tour fruit-industry facilities to experience first-hand how our magnificent fruit is handled as it travels from tree to table.
