A real getaway that's not so far away

Only 38 scenic miles east of  Roseburg, Oregon, the Steamboat Inn may well be the most memorable part of your Umpqua Region wine country tour!

Who says you can't have it all?

Steamboat Inn will soothe your nerves, pamper your palate, delight your senses and cater to your comfort, all in an unspoiled setting on the North Umpqua River in Southern Oregon.  Here the only sounds are those of a rushing river and local birds... the primary scents those of evergreens and blooming flowers.

Serious fly fishermen try to keep this all a secret, since the stretch of river where North Umpqua RiverSteamboat Inn is located is renowned for its summer and fall runs of wild Steelhead and has been for decades.  These upper stretches of the North Umpqua have been fished by fly anglers since the 1920s, and many of the anglers who came were among the best fly fishermen of their day.

While many Inn guests come for the challenging fishing of the North Umpqua River, many others come for the lovely and secluded accommodations, the spectacular wilderness beauty, and Steamboat Inn's much-acclaimed food and winemaker dinners.

Dining at Steamboat Inn

Each night of the summer at dusk, and in the winter around seven o'clock, the doors of Steamboat Inn close to all but Inn guests and those who have made reservations.

The "Evening Dinner" is far from the ordinary restaurant dining affair.  The festive dinner-hour experience begins when guests gather in the library to sip an aperitif and enjoy appetizers.  Next, guests are invited to be seated in the main dining room at massive wood-slab tables, and the first course is served.   Family-style meals, as the description suggests, consist of one sumptuous menu served to all guests.   (With advance notice, the Inn is happy to accommodate any food allergies, strong dislikes or vegetarian diets.)

Savory side dishes, homemade bread and Oregon wines accompany the meal.  The meal is  followed by a tempting dessert made for the occasion.

The Day Cafe

Open daily late spring through fall and in the winter on weekends (closed January & February), the Day Cafe offers a menu featuring homemade soups, pies, breads and other delicious treats available for breakfast and lunch.  So, if you're passing by, either on your way to Crater Lake National Park or on the way back, stop in and visit a while. Our cafe

During the daytime, the Inn is not only a gathering place for fishermen, but for tourists and locals who want to savor "honest home cooking."  The daytime restaurant offers an early dinner special for those not attending the later Evening Dinner, as well as breakfast and lunch.

Whether you're dining, lodging, fishing or all three, be sure to join the folks at Steamboat Inn on the scenic North Umpqua river.
