Walla Walla's Premier
Destination Winery A true destination winery in the famed Walla Walla Valley wine region... Three Rivers Winery... and it's open all year long! Set on top of a small knoll overlooking the surrounding vineyards and Mill Creek, Three Rivers Winery's 16-acre site features stunning views of the Blue Mountains in the distance and the nearby Whitman Mission. The natural slope of the land creates a perfect spot for an outdoor amphitheater and concerts during the summer months. True to
its name, Three Rivers Winery uses grapes grown in appellations influenced
by three prominent rivers -- the Columbia, the Snake and the Walla
Walla rivers. Currently, grapes are sourced from
select vineyards in diverse geographic
zones within the
Columbia Valley Appellation, including high
vineyards in both the
Lower Transforming the fine grapes of these multiple vineyards into premium wines is winemaker Holy Turner, who brings many years of food and wine experience to the Three Rivers table. With a bachelor's degree in biology from Western Oregon State College and extended coursework at U.C. Davis in winemaking and wine grape production, Turner went on to gain unparalleled education in the art and science of winemaking through her positions at wineries, including Chateau Ste. Michelle's River Ridge Winery and Bodega la Rural winery in Mendoza, Argentina. Holly came to Three Rivers Winery in 2000 and since then, has developed strong relationships with growers that help insure sourcing of some of the best grapes available in the Lower Columbia Valley and Walla Walla Valley regions. Turner's style is all about balance. "I don't want too much wood or alcohol; I want everything to flow on the palate. My wine should be juicy in the mouth but not too toasty, with no burn." Following in the style of its first two vintages, Turner insures that Three Rivers continues to produce wines that reflect the best of what each region has to offer and that the winery's reputation continues to grow with each vintage and each award-winning wine. Inside the
winery, it's easy to see there is more to Three Rivers' reputation than
premium wines. The interior of the winery includes two distinct areas: a 14,000 square-foot cellar and barrel
room, used for the production and
Vaulted ceilings, exposed timber trusses and wooden floors provide a feel of rustic warmth within the large contemporary structure, no matter what the season. Visitors can taste and purchase Three Rivers' wines and browse a variety of wine-related merchandise; they can view the barrel room or simply relax by the fireplace... all without leaving the wine shop. Outside the winery, you will find a spacious, wrap-around deck with tables and chairs, another stone-hearth fireplace, and a view of vineyards, as well as the winery's three short holes of golf, meticulously maintained for the enjoyment of winery guests. Three Rivers Winery is located on the south side of Hwy. 12 west of Walla Walla, Washington, midway between Walla Walla and Lowden. Be sure to schedule plenty of time for your visit to the must-see destination of Three Rivers Winery. Don't miss it.
